LPG Vehicle Scheme
The Australian
Government has established the LPG Vehicle
Scheme to assist private use motorists with
the purchase of a new LPG vehicle or the
conversion of a new or used petrol or diesel
vehicle to LPG.
Two different grants
are available:
-
A grant of
$2,000 will be paid following the LPG
conversion of a new or used petrol or
diesel motor vehicle.
-
A grant of
$1,000 will be paid following the
purchase of a new motor vehicle with an
LPG unit fitted at the time of
manufacture of the vehicle.
Any application lodged on or
after 24 September 2008 will be considered on
the basis of the revised eligibility criteria.
The key change to the
program criteria is the removal of the requirement for vehicle
registration in the State/Territory of residence of claimant.
We have also clarified
program rules relating to:
-
Definition of a 'private
use' vehicle
-
Vehicle registration
requirements
-
Vehicles where the LPG unit
is fitted after manufacture but before the vehicle is
registered for the first time
-
One claim per person every
three years
-
Requirement to lodge your
application within 12 months of conversion or new vehicle
purchase
-
Vehicles subject to novated
lease and salary sacrifice arrangements
-
Ineligible vehicles
